Justin Yoshimura from Portland, Oregon

Hi Justin! Where you from? Tell somthing about you...

Justin: Guten Tag Andre and thanks for giving me the chance to share a little with your readers! I'm an old goat that's lucky enough to have been kicking around on this rock for 35 years. I was born and raised in the paradise of Hawaii and now call Portland, Oregon my home. I love it in Portland because it has everything that a big city in the US has without a lot of the negatives that go along with living in a big city. Basically, it's a big city with a small town feel. Oh, and it's very progressive and supportive of the arts and creative industries. ;)

What was the idea behind Inspiration Explosion?

Justin: The idea behind starting Inspiration Explosion was a really simple one: my inspiration-based bookmark collection was getting out of control so I wanted to create a quicker and easier way to find inspirational sites. I figured if I was having this problem, other people doing creative work might be having similar issues. That's when I decided to put the sites that I had gathered online to share with the world. I also decided to add commenting and rating to the site in the hopes that the better galleries would rise above the weaker ones.

Wich job do you do?

Justin: By trade I'm a graphic designer/art director. However, I aspire to be many other things (illustrator, photographer, blogger, entrepreneur, professional athlete, international spy) - if I could only find the time to follow through on them all. ;)

You do some other projects beside Inspiration Explosion?

Justin: Ha-ha! Yes, I do have quite a few projects cooking in my kitchen. Unfortunately, there's only one of me so lots of them are in the "incubation" stage - meaning they exist only in my mind's eye. I don't want to give away all of my secrets, but let's just say that Inspiration Explosion is only the tip of the iceberg! I will definitely keep you posted if/when anything new launches so stay posted.

What is perfect webdesign for you? You have an example of a good ant tasty website?

Justin: There are so many great sites out there, it's hard to pick just one. If I had to though, it would be Nike.com. I love how all of their sub-units have different identities yet remain true to the core brand of the Nike site. There is so much going on within their sites that I could only imagine how challenging it is to tie it all together, yet they do - and quite successfully..

You like WordPress?

Justin: I absolutely LOVE WordPress!!! My first foray into the world of CMS was with Joomla. Let's just say that the learning curve with Joomla is quite steep, especially when compared to something as natural to use as WordPress. I was one of those guys that saw WordPress in its early form and labeled it solely as a blogging platform. At the time I wasn't a "blogger" and never had any intentions of becoming one. So I looked for a more "serious" CMS alternative. Big mistake!

What do you think about Google? You mean it's bad or nice?

Justin: I love Google as well! In fact, I'm typing this in Gmail right now. I have a free business account with Google Apps and I must admit that I use it on a daily basis. I also login to iGoogle every morning to stay connected with the world. I work out of a home office so it's nice to see what's going on out there as it can get quite isolated here in my basement. I also love how Google supports the open source movement - they're showing that it's possible for open source software to not only survive but to thrive in the current market. The only thing that disappoints me about Google is the fact that their stock is so @&!*(@#! high that no real people can actually invest in their company anymore. :(

What's your passion beside Webdesign and Design?

Justin: When I'm not stuck behind a computer I'm usually playing with my 8 month old son. When I'm not acting as his servant, I'm usually out playing basketball, volleyball, soccer or working out. When the weather here cooperates and I can spare the time I'll go camping, surfing, snowboarding or paintballing. I love most types of music so I've always got something blasting out of my speakers when I'm working - music is more than a passion to me, it's a necessity.

Tomorrow the world is going under. (Joke!) What will you do the last day?

Justin: What a bummer! At least now I have an excuse for not paying my bills. ;) If the world were ending tomorrow, I'd just chill at home with my wife, son and 125 pound (56 kilogram) Newfoundland dog.

Who will be the MBL Champion this season? ;-)

Justin: That's a great question because I actually HATE watching baseball! I know, what kind of American am I? ;) I am an American who loves the NBA! I can tell you that I think the Cleveland Cavaliers will probably face the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA finals this year. I absolutely detest the Los Angeles Lakers and would love to see any other team in the West beat them. I'd love to see your countryman Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks in the Finals again. Even though I live in Portland, I don't realistically see my home team Portland Trailblazers making it to the finals - we have too many injuries on our team this year. :(
