Hi Romain! Tell me something about you?
Romain: Firstly I would like to thank you for letting me speak on this blog, Danke ! My name is Romain Juillard, I'm 26 and I live in Chambéry (a small town in south east France).
What are you doing?
Romain: I am web designer and web integrator at Nouvel oeil (http://www.nouvel-oeil.com), a multi-disciplinary agency specializes in web design, development and e-commerce using open source CMS like Joomla, Drupal, Magento... As it's a small structure I also do print design.
What was the idea behind CSSDSGN?
Romain: Beat CSS Mania ! :)
But more seriously, the aim was to make a CSS gallery only featuring quality sites, not just those that can be find on other galleries (even this is not always easy...) and try to stand out among all these showcases.
You have some other projects too?
Romain: I have a few little projects in mind nothing really serious, but at the moment I'm too busy between my work and trying to find some nice sites for CssDsgn so they will stay at draft stage.
What's the best way to make good webdesign?
Romain: Hard to say ... I think it is a small amount of different things. A good choice of colors, two or three basic colors and their shades. Proper use of fonts to prioritize information. Use of a grid for the layout without fear of white space and not to forget usability.
You have a favorite style?
Romain: I especially like the clear design, almost minimalist, leaving much space for the image or typography (as webjunkiexl for example !). I also love sites with nice and well placed javascript effects like animations on images, links... Even if it does not directly influence the design, it can make a difference. And I like more and more these new sites where all elements are moving, a sort of clone flash wbsite with css and js.
What are you doing also?
Romain: I spend much time on my computer in search of beautiful sites and to the technology watch, but when I'm not behind my screen I like watching basketball games even though I play more. I also enjoy running, the photography and drink a beer after work :)
